Leader

I'm not sure what these superheroes are discussing, but I appreciate that Everett thinks highly enough of the Ninja Turtles that he has a tiny one leading the meeting...

Gummy

Somehow, Amelia has now lost another tooth.  At this point, she is now missing FOUR teeth on top. I don't know exactly how kids are supposed to lose their teeth, but I'm pretty sure it isn't supposed to be all at once.  If this keeps up, she'll be back on baby food and anything else she can gum down...and the tooth fairy will be bankrupt.

Sedated

This little guy had to have dental work done today. Unfortunately, thanks to him going ballistic on the dentist last time, we had to give him a sedative before he went.  The bad news - it made him drunk enough to start professing his love for a balloon.  The good news - it didn't make him so drunk that he pulled his pants down to show his butt to everyone like he did on his last sedative.  All told, I'll take that as a big success.

Absence

I have been absent from this blog for a week. That is the longest I've missed in 7 years. That said, I have a very good reason for taking a break. The kids were are their grandparents and Meggan and I were here...

... they brought us lunch and drinks to the pool and had complimentary bikes for us to ride on the beach. Okay, so technically that isn't a very good reason, but it sure felt good at the time. Either way, we are back home and back to reality.

Writer

Amelia came to me and asked me if we could make a movie together. I'm not sure what got her mind on this.  It could be she knows I like to write or it could simply be something that sounds like fun to her.  Either way, I told her I would help her film it, but she had to write it. Now, under the assumption that she'd never take time to write anything, I left out the little detail that I don't actually know how to film a movie.  Well, I came home to this tonight....

Her "script"...

Rehearsing with her main "actor"...

It looks like I might want to start figuring out how to shoot a film.

Memory Lane

It pays to clean out your closet every once in a while. Today, we came across 2 old CDs.  When we put them in to see what was on them, we were pleasantly surprised to find the first CD was our wedding music and the second CD was Amelia's 4D ultrasound.  So, in one night, we flashed back 10 years to our wedding day and 7 years to the birth of our first child....not a bad stroll down memory lane...

Ready

The kids tried on Meggan's new beach hat today.  They both looked great in it. Now, if only they knew they weren't going to the beach with us next week....

Home

It's always great to be home after a few days away.  It's even better when you get to come home to a loving wife, smiling kids, and donuts that looked like they were dragged directly from the sewer green St. Patrick's Day donuts from Krispy Kreme...

Travel

I will be leaving town for a few days on a work trip and I have to say ... I hate it.  I know it is a perk for most people. However, for me, I love being home. I love my wife.  I love my daughter. And how could I want to be away from my son when we have the conversation we had in his bed tonight....

Me: Good night, buddy.

Ev: Good night, daddy. Did you kill that gnat? I don't like gnats.

Me: You know it.

Ev: You're my hero.

Me:  Awww, thanks, man.

Ev:  I love you so much.

Me: I love you too.

Ev: I love you the most.

Shopping List

This is the new school Santa list. Since Everett wants everything he sees in every store he visits, we have started telling him we'll take a picture of it so we know what to ask for at Christmas. So far, so good. He's not being spoiled with toys and we aren't going broke.  Of course, there's going to be a steep price to pay come Christmas morning when he doesn't get 90% of it...

Does He Have a License?

Who taught this guy how to drive???

Animal Kingdom

This is the aftermath of Everett playing.  I'm not sure if he was building a zoo, wants to be a vet, or was recreating Noah's ark. All I know is the man loves animals in a big way...

Jam

Thanks to their Aunt Stacy, we got to take the kids to Monster Jam this weekend.  It was all the monster truck madness you could imagine.  There were cars smashed, races won, and plenty of food eaten...

Good Judge of Character

Sometimes, you just have to trust your kids' judgement of character. I bought Everett a package of Army men today.  After playing with them for a few minutes, he walked over to throw 3 of them in the garbage.  When his aunt asked him why he was throwing his new toys away, he said "because these 3 don't look like they want to save the day".

Watchful

As a parent, you don't always think your children notice the things you do.  However, you come to find out they are watching much more than you could imagine.  They're smart. They're notice. They care.

The other night, I posted about a jewelry box I painted for Amelia with a little note on it...

Tonight, this is what she wrote on our family chalkboard....
