Quiet Time

We took the kids down for their second week of the summer at Grandma and Grandpa's house.  When we last checked on them, they were already having a blast.  Meanwhile, we are in the middle of the odd feeling of having a quiet house.  Luckily, we just got our professional photos (Amanda Leigh Photography) back to remind us of our little guys if we get too lonely.

Cure

Everett was feeling under the weather today.  We decided the best cure was his favorite mac and cheese and some chocolate milk (and a cookie we won't discuss) .... looks like it helped....

Great Story

I took the kids to see Toy Story 4 today.  It was our first time trying the 4D theater.  The seats moved and bounced, wind and smells were blown, rain dropped from the ceiling, etc. I think I enjoyed it more than the kids....except for the insanely uncomfortable seats, being shaken like a paint can, and getting wet randomly throughout the film.

Proof

Let this picture Meggan took serve as proof in the event Olive ever kills me in my sleep....

Okay, I get it.

Everett has asked me 3 times this week when he and Amelia get to go back to Grandma and Grandpa's house.  The first time, I figured it was curiosity.  The second time, I wrote it off as eagerness.  After the third time, I'm starting to think he's about a day away from trying to hitchhike down there.

Father's Day

As always, I had a wonderful Father's Day.  They get better and better as the kids grow into their personalities....

Here are the cards I received ....

Along with some nice gifts, Meggan got me this lovely card...

Everett made me this card, gave me a $20 bill, and told me I was his hero...

Amelia gave me this card.... so, there's that...

Hide and Seek

Sometimes, it's hard to find Olive when she's snuggled up in our comforter.  I don't want to give any clues, but I think she might be the eyeball in the middle.

Okay, We'll Do It Your Way

Olive has gotten used to taking a walk every night....and I mean EVERY night.  While I'm happy she likes it and we really enjoy taking her, she has gotten completely out of control.  For instance, she didn't want to let a little rain stop her from walking tonight.  Despite me showing her the rain, she felt the best way to spend the evening was to sit next to her leash and bark her head off.  After about 30 minutes of her and I negotiating aggressively (at one point, I offered two walks tomorrow), off for a walk we went...

Good Morning

Mornings around here start with snuggles....and lots of them...

Home Again

Amelia and I have returned from our daddy-daughter trip to the mountains.  Despite it pouring rain the entire time, we had a great time.  Here are a few of the highlights....

The clearest view from our deck.  It was a white-out of fog the rest of the time...

We had a few snacks...and literally blew up and popped over 100 balloons...

We visited a place claiming to have strange magnetic powers.  I'm sure it was fake, but it was impressive and allowed Amelia to do the Michael Jackson lean...

And we encapsulated ourselves fully in giant bubbles... you know, as people do...

Time Together

Amelia and I are headed out on our annual father-daughter vacation tomorrow.  This year, it will be a little different.  For starters, we're not staying in town this time.  We are headed to the mountains for two days.  Secondly, we are going with another father-daughter pairing.  We have rented a cabin with ping pong and air hockey, purchased games like Pictionary and Catchphrase, and booked a private escape room for us to test our wits.  Once we throw in the fire pit and s'mores, I think we'll be all set for a great weekend.

Moving Out

After spending a month or so using our front door wreath as a maternity ward, a dining hall, and most recently a toilet, the birds have finally grown up and left the nest.  Thank the Lord...

Pride

At what point is it more prideful to admit you've been replaced than to continue fighting for your rightful place in the bed?
