You know that feeling when you're in the store and you spot one of your best friends from preschool 100 feet away causing you to start sprinting toward them as they sprint toward you and you meet in the middle for a minute long bear hug because you haven't seen each other in forever (a single-breath run-on sentence is clearly the only way to capture the excitement)? Well, Amelia does...

Well, He Does Have a Point

Tonight, Everett was recounting what happened at school today when he mentioned he got punched in the lip.  This obviously required some explanation.  After some prodding, he went into detail about how one kid punched him in line for no reason.  He returned the favor.  Then, another kid punched him in the lip. Finally, his best buddy punched that kid in the back before all was stopped.  For his first ever fight, or as his teacher put it, "skirmish", it sounded like he's no worse for the wear. As a dad, I want to help him find other ways to handle that situation....but, at the same time, I agree with his simple summary of the event (when I told him we don't hit people)..... "I had to. It's called protecting yourself, dude."

Better with Friends

What could be more fun than playing in the sprinkler on a hot day? Playing in the sprinkler with you best buddy...or at least the little girl in the house who is nicer to you than anyone else...

Doing it All

For all the trouble he is, Teddy tries to help where he can.



Today, he stole my laptop so he could go to work and help us bring home the bacon....

Tonight, he stole Meggan's giant spoon so he could help her cook it up...

Better Late than Never

The kids have been out of school for 3 weeks now. I suppose it is time I put up their "Last day of...." photos.  This delay, plus the slightly sparse amount of postings lately, should be a good indication of how busy our lives are these days....and I'm pretty sure Teddy is responsible for 75% of that busyness...

Building

I know this is going to come as a surprise, but don't let the jersey fool you.  This isn't actually the real Cam Newton. It's Everett doing serious work at a Lego convention...

You Never Know

Some days, I can take my kids to the movies, ice cream shop, and a toy store and get almost no reaction out of them.  Other days, I can take them to an outdoor store, let them look at the fish and pretend to camp, and you'd think it was Christmas. You just never know what's going to strike their fancy.

All's Well that Ends Well

Any night that includes a picnic, friends, an unplanned visit to a sprayground, and ends with you shirtless with a cooler and your sister wearing your dad's clothes is a damn good night....

Grad

Tonight was Everett's big night.  He graduated from TK and is now just waiting for the big world of Kindergarten.  I'm sure he'll be ready for any challenges they throw at him.  As for tonight, you're looking at the TK Citizenship Award winner for being the best at following the rules and helping others.

Home Again

The kids returned from a week of fun at Grandma and Grandpa's house.  As expected, Amelia was emotional about leaving them. Meggan and I were incredibly excited to have them home....and Everett was happily reunited with his one true love, Nintendo....

 

Premeditated

Meggan found a to-do list in Amelia's room while cleaning up a few things.  Item number 1 on the list - a reminder for April Fool's Day - "Shake up canned soda and give it to daddy".  In one way, I'm proud of her for thinking ahead and being organized. In another way, I'm even more proud of her for following through...
