Quick Dip

Let's just say the kids would argue staying in a hotel for a week while your house gets renovated has its perks....

Flying High

I am sad to report Amelia has now officially entered her final year of single digit ages.  Your baby girl steamrolling toward double digits is not a comfortable feeling for a dad.  It's not that I don't think she's absolutely killed her first 9 years. She has.  She's the smartest, funniest, and sweetest little kid I've had the pleasure of knowing.   She's a beautiful little girl with a heart so big I'm not sure how it fits in her body.  She's a special person and as soon as she realizes it, the sky is the limit for her.  With all that, how can I want her to stay little?  It's simple really...right now, she doesn't yet know she's too cool for me.

Birthday fun in the air....

Helpful Haircuts

Mommy took me  to get a haircut.  And of course Daddy was still eating lunch.  This was my  first haircut at the fancy salon Mommy uses.  Mommy and Daddy really like it.

Family Trees

It took all of one sunny afternoon and a weekend visit for Grandpa and Amelia to decide it was time to plant a garden.  Now, let's see how if anything actually grows besides good memories....

Wingin' It

To the person who threw their chicken wing in the PetSmart parking lot, thank you so very much.  Tucker really enjoyed eating it.  Additionally, Meggan always loves an opportunity to dig bones out of a dog's throat like a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat.  Luckily, Tucker is a gentle soul.  If it had been Teddy, he would have swallowed the wing instantly and washed it down with Meggan's wedding rings when she reached in to get it.  So, there's that.  The only thing I ask next time you decide the world is your garbage can is that you order boneless wings...and no hotter than medium....I don't need Tucker scooting across my carpet like he's in a one-dog bobsled.

From the Heart

Everett found this note hidden in his room today.  I'm not sure when Amelia wrote it, but she was hoping he wouldn't find it until he left for college.  It is the sort of thing that makes you feel like you're doing a good job as a parent....or are just lucky to have great kids....

"Dear Little Brother, I wrote this when I was in 3rd grade.  I am happy you found it.  I just wanted you to know I love you.  You are the best brother ever.  I will always be by your side. Your Sister, Amelia. "

In the Books

With the conclusion of Everett's basketball season today, his trophy case has grown by 1...and Amelia's jealousy over her not getting a trophy grew by 100...

Start Climbing

When I was in school, I'm pretty sure I was more interested in drawing Ninja Turtles than motivating people. This is the art Amelia brings home.  In case you were wondering, she is available for all corporate team building events and self-help retreats...

Comfort

I just hope Tucker finds a way to become more comfortable around the house so he can finally relax.....oh wait, nevermind, he has already kicked me out of my own bed in the mornings...

This

This is what I'm working with on a daily basis.....one sweet, loving daughter and a wild cartoon character of a son....
