World Cup
Amelia's athletic career kicked off today with her first soccer practice. Somehow, I didn't get a single picture of this event. I think it was because I was so excited to see her out there playing. If you're wondering what it looked like, just picture the World Cup....and then imagine it was being played by kittens.

Good Start
Pajamas, crazy hair fresh from the bed, and some donut holes ... that's a good start to a great day...

Time Warp
Every once in a while you look over and realize the little girl you were just teaching the alphabet now passes the time in a waiting room by losing herself in a book....and it feels good and terrible at the same time....

Over Here
Here is what happens when you try to take a picture of Everett and a plane flies overhead...
Hey man, stop looking at the plane and look at the camera...
There you go.....
Hey man, stop looking at the plane and look at the camera...
Uhhh, yeah, arms are good, but we can see you're still looking at the plane...

Day 2
Day 2 of 2nd grade was a success. The day started with Amelia running into, and hugging the life out of, her best friend who is no longer in her class. It ended with us sharing a chocolate chip cookie pizza. I think the hardest part was filling out the questionnaire we were given about Amelia's learning style.

Back to Normal
With the last two weeks being hectic for the kids (and the blog), I welcome the consistency of the school year. Also, since Amelia was telling Meggan how babies were made and Everett asked me if we could go kill a bear this weekend, I think it is time the kids do something constructive with their minds.

Phone
Amelia has asked us for a phone about 100 times. She's 7 years old. She's not getting a phone. However, this week she has had access to her grandmother's phone while they spend their days watching movies in their pajamas. So far, I have received the following calls...
Tuesday - back to back calls that I had to leave a meeting to take... so she could tell me there was a lizard in the house and she was hiding from it on top of the dining room table.
Wednesday - a frantic call asking me to call Meggan .... because her boo boo was looking funny and needed a band aid and only her mom could help.
Today - 3 calls in 1 minute while I was interviewing a prospective employee... because she was making "celery stalk butterflies" and could find any pretzels to use as antennas.
I reiterate. She's not getting a phone.

All Smiles
Week two of the kids being spoiled by their grandparents is in full force. I came home on my lunch break to find them playing board games. This is the look of one happy little kid and one good sport grandma...

Smile
Nothing makes me happier than seeing Amelia laugh....I'll just be a tiny bit happier when her teeth finally decide to grow back in..

Dentist's Favorite
These are the 3 pictures I received via text today...
These two were from Meggan's parents who are watching the kids right now...

This one was from my mom's grocery store trip today in preparation of her visit next week...
I think it is safe to say grandparents know the way to a kid's heart is through the dessert menu.

A Little Medicine
We found this poor, little guy who met an untimely end as we left to go for a walk. Amelia said a little prayer asking God to watch out for its family. Everett, however, asked if we could buy a cage and keep it. I gently explained that he was no longer alive. He replied "No, he'll be okay. His dad just needs to bring him some medicine."

Home
Thanks to a teacher workday at Everett's school, I get to spend the day hanging around with my two little buddies. Unfortunately, we don't usually have the same idea of what constitutes "hanging around". I'm guessing I'll want to play a game, maybe kick the soccer ball around, or watch a movie. I'm also guessing they'll want to go to Chuck E. Cheese, swim in a bathtub of ice cream, or go adopt 10 puppies.

Puzzled
This guy is really stepping up his puzzle game. With a little help from me sorting the pieces, he is taking on a 300 piece puzzle. The only problem he's having is understanding that he's not going to finish it in one night.

Good to Know
What can take a 4 year-old who has been a great sleeper his whole life and make him not want to be out of your sight during the day or night? Apparently, the Goosebumps movie. Usually, he is fine with anything while Amelia is too afraid to watch commercials with spooky voices. However, in a role reversal, she's the one who has been trying to convince him that monsters aren't real. It's not working.
